  1. What is the price per square foot to build a home? - Probably the most frequently asked question and the hardest to answer. Because we build custom homes, every home is different and has different features, cabinets, flooring etc. Therefore, there is no standard or average cost. Our base price is about $80 square foot based on total covered area.

  2. How long does it take to build a home? - It is difficult to put an exact time frame on construction of a home due to the complexity of today's custom homes.  However, a good rule of thumb is 5-6 months.

  3. What do we do about home plans? - We can refer you to various architects and designers with whom we have done business. These companies can take your ideas and incorporate them into a home plan. They also may have stock plans which can be used as a starting point.

  4. What are some standard features in Custom Creations by Dean homes? - The list of standard features in our homes is quite extreme, and every home we build is customized for our client.

  5. Does Custom Creations by Dean provide financing for the construction of homes? - We can provide the interim financing for the construction of the home or we can recommend lenders to do the interim lending, so the owner can recap the tax benefits.

  6. What are the disadvantages of being your own builder?  There are many (byob) be your own builder programs in the market place today, and they are not free of cost or risk.  Many of these programs require a substantial amount of money to participate in the programs. While we applaud anyone's desire to build their own home, I would be quick to warn you of the false impression that you will save thousands of dollars and here is why.... 

    1. It's a known fact that contractors charge byob program participants more money.

    2. You many not have the leverage to have contractors return for punch out and warranty items.

    3. If you are building in an area where there are time constraints to have your home complete, you'll want to be very wary of managing the project alone.

    4. High risk of  going over budget.

    5. High risk of going out of scope.
